A has been a while...........

It has been a while. Not much been happening, except chaos and mayhem from my 6 children. Imagine 4 of your kids going to primary school, you know the chaos and not to forget the cost, which includes books, cloth, fees.

After a while, everyday becomes a routine. wakeup - send kids to school - go to work - pick up kids - take a nap - dinner - homeworks - sleep.

But having 6 kids is never boring, or routine. There is always something news they show or learn or just freak you out.

House renovation

House renovation may seem trivial and non-event thing.

However, if you look deeper into the effect and impacts of house renovation, you may discover certain things about yourself.

1. House renovation involves changes, and changes something is good. To see the same old colour in the living room day in day out would eventually bored you. But, a new scenario or clour may bring back the zest and life into you
2. Renovation involves changes of structure. How much of the original structures you would like to preserve and how much you would like to changes? Again, changes is good. The old maxim of 'if it is not broken, don't fix it' doesn't work for me.
3. Money issues. You normally start small, but as your new house renovate, suddenly you have the urge to add this and that. resist that, stick with the original plan but with minor changes.

AlhamduililLah, dapat peluang ke Madinah/Mekah pada 25-28 March.

Berada di Madinah/mekah adalah satu pengalaman yang sukar dijelaskan. Dari satu sudut, kita akan rasa takut dan pilu bila melihat masjid nabi. Di satu sudut, kita merasa kegembiraan yang sukar digambarkan bila melihat masjid nabi dan kaabah.

rebooting and changes

The only thing that is certain in life is changes. One must embrace changes, not fear them. The fear of stepping out of the comfort zone is huge, but not accepting changes will eventually cause failures. Be ready of anything.

Life bring a lot of junk, both in memory and burdens. In order to start over, we need to reboot. Just throw out everything that has the least importance, and start fresh. With clean slate, and clear goals and directions. What past is past.

Sambut raya

Raya has come and gone. I do observes that raya has becoming more of a celebration away from the true meaning of Islam. For instance, peopel seem to be happy to celebrate raya, with all preparations and spending a lot of money.

Do they spend the same amount of money to welcome ramadan, where all the blessing is? It is not raya that is important, but the ramadan. I believe people tend to forget the real purpose of ramadan and puasa.

For example, you spend RM500 for cloth, lansir and kuih raya. Do you spend that much for sedekah, majlis buka puasa, derm anak yatim, etc.

a reunion , 25 years later

how time has fly. we had our reunion 25 years later for batch 78-82 SMS kelantan. some interesting statistic on how some of us come out;

1. one has become a millionaire
2. one has died due to colon cancer
3. one has a stroke and still recovering
4. one lost an UMNO election for ketua pemuda
5. one has 2 wives
6. one has start and close as many companies as your fingers
7. one still not finishing his PhD
8. one has give up his PhD
9. one has begin her PhD
10. many work as teachers
11. many has 1 kids
12. many sacrifice time and money to attend from as far away as Johor, and Alor Star
13. many have put on weight
14. many have more white hairs than black
    
15. one drive a taxi for a living
16. many is KL based

our different roles

each of us have many different roles; muslim, father, husband, profession, friend, neighbour, etc. and each roles have its own responsibilities and rules.

say, as a muslim you have to dicipline your son, and as a father you like to give as much space and freedom to your son to make his choice. there would be conflict, but the important point is to have aguide line.

this is where Islam, al-quran and hadith, provide a guideline for your role. as a father, you should do this, as a muslim, you should do this. having the guideline will make you honest and happy.

reunion 25 years

a group of us, SMS kelantan batch 78-82, is having a reunion on 23/6/2007. just to see your school mate after 25 years is precious. It not about boasting, but about trying to recapture the innocence and friendship 25 years ago.

GTD

Have been trying to read and understand the process of GTD, a book about personal management. Heard good review about it.

a new beginning

once in a while tou need to reconsider and rethink your life. much like computer, you need to reboot, and delete all the trash.

how to reboot life, that is an interesting question.

friends

I called a friend that I have not seem for years as he is leaving te Jeddah. I am proud and surprised at his courage to go to another place and start his life there. The sense of adventure, the thrill of surprises, etc.

moreover, it is in Jeddah, about 20KM to Mecca, the center of the earth.

I called another friend who I have not heard for years. He seem to resign to the fact that he would not meet his life partner.

new technologies

the speed of new technologies, both web-based and computing, are both extraordinary. One moment you are using perl, next moment, perl is basically death in the water.

the current trend seem to be using web-based technology to develop on-line applications.

death of a friend

just received call tha my old SMS friend died today at 4.00 pm.

It was both sad and a rude awakening. She suffer from internal complications and has been in-and-out of the hospital for the past year. Sad because I lost a good friend, I visit her sometimes last year. Rude awakening to know that yau can die at this age.

I begin to ponder whetehr I am prepared, both spiritually and mentally. A lot I haven't achieve yet.

a daughter

alhamdulilLah, my fifth kid and my fourth daughter was born on 18/07/2005 at putrajaya hospital. The baby weight at 2.9 KG, smile and cry and soon as she arrive in the world.

I am both happy and thrilled. one of the privileges of being a father is that you get to name her.

new car

just considering buying a new car, toyota innova, due to be lunched on 27/5/2005. with the current price of a decent MPV more than 100,000, it seem to be a good deal. however, the goverment tax structure is yet to be listed.

open source

I am a bit fan of open source. However, the speed of open source development leave me breathless. There still a lot of people to convince this open source will work.
